"Acadiens Mikmaks"

"Acadiens Mikmaks"

Here's a rather interesting baptismal record:

The March 12, 1769 record of the baptisms of Joseph Thomas Labove and his brother, Germain Gregoire Labove. They were the sons of Thomas Labove and Marie Argimaux. This record is found in Missionary Charles Francois Bailly's "Caraquet" missionary register, which includes entries from his stops made in the late-1760s and into the 1770s throughout Acadia.

What's interesting about this record is that Joseph and Gregoire are called "Acadiens Mikmaks." A root ancestor of the Labove family of Acadia is Anne Marie (Rimbault/Pinet).
